PUBLICATIONS: ONE MAN'S BLUES

Patti's comments: Writing this book was a labor of love and a life-changing experience. It began as my Master's thesis and was fleshed out in interviews with Mose Allison and others over several years. Chronicling the life and analyzing the music and recording career of a true American original as well as the opportunity to work closely with, come to know and eventually represent, my musical hero is the experience of a lifetime. The research, conducted while I was a student at Suffolk University Law School, brought me to Mississippi, London, New Orleans, Los Angeles and New York. I was blessed with being able to interview many blues, jazz and music industry legends such as Willie Dixon, Stan Getz, Gerry Mulligan, Ahmet Ertegun and Tom Dowd, all gone now. The birds-eye view of the music industry, dealing with managers, publicists, booking agents and venues, and record companies and finally interviews with legends such as Pete Townsend, Van Morrison, Jack Bruce, and Bonnie Raitt was my entree into the music business. Pete Townsend "called me" to the job in a conversation before our interview in Chicago during the first reunion THE WHO tour. I took his off-the-cuff comment that "as a law student I should consider using my music background to help musicians" seriously. Considering its source, how could anyone consider that suggestion anything but "the message" from a higher power? Not long after, everything fell into place.
